Looking to buy packing materials in Eastbourne for your own move? Mark Ratcliffe Moving & Storage supplies the same removal-grade boxes, tape, bubble wrap, blankets and wardrobe cartons our crews use on every job — without the markup of a high-street stationer or the wait of an online retailer. There is no checkout on this page. Email us your list and we'll come back the same working day with availability, pricing and a collection or local-delivery slot that suits you.
Every item below is what we use on professional removals — not flimsy single-wall imports. If you're self-packing for a move within Sussex, an international shipment or long-term storage, this is the kit that gives your possessions a fighting chance of arriving intact.
Removal-grade book and kitchen boxes. Stack-safe, won't burst under load. Small (book), medium (kitchen) and large (linen) sizes available — and a couple of extra-large for soft furnishings only.
Tall cartons with a built-in hanging rail. Your clothes go straight from the wardrobe to the box without folding, then straight back into the new wardrobe. The single biggest time-saver in any self-pack.
Standard and anti-static bubble in sheets and rolls. Archival tissue for china, glassware, lampshades and fine art. Sold by the metre or by the roll.
50 mm low-noise vinyl tape — the same tape we use on professional moves. Cheap parcel tape releases in a warm lorry. We also supply hand-held dispensers for larger orders.
Heavy quilted blankets for furniture protection — the foundation of our pad-wrap method. Available for sale or to hire by the week for self-loaders and trade customers.
Heavy-gauge polythene covers with secure closures. Keeps mattresses, sofas and upholstery clean during transit and storage. Single, double, king and super-king sizes.
Adjustable telescopic cartons that fit any picture or framed mirror. Corner-padded inside for vertical transit. Essential for fragile artwork.
Room-coded colour stickers, "Fragile" and "This Way Up" labels, and proper packing-grade permanent markers that won't fade in storage. Small but they save you hours on unpacking day.
There's no automated checkout because every order gets a real check — we want to make sure you're getting the right kit for your move, not just whatever happens to fit in a basket.

Subject: Packing materials order — Eastbourne move
Hi Mark,
I'm packing for a move from a 3-bedroom semi in Hailsham to a 2-bed flat in Bexhill on 14 June. I'd like to buy the following:
- 20 × small (book) cartons — new please
- 15 × medium (kitchen) cartons — used is fine
- 6 × wardrobe cartons
- 1 × large roll of bubble wrap
- 2 × 50 mm vinyl tape rolls + 1 dispenser
- 2 × mattress bags (one double, one single)
Would you be able to confirm availability, total cost and a collection slot for Saturday? Happy to collect from Lower Dicker.
Thanks,
Sarah Phillips · 07700 900123
That's plenty of detail for us to come back with a precise quote. If you'd rather just describe your move and let us recommend a bundle, that's fine too.
The packing materials you buy from a stationer or hardware shop are mostly single-wall cardboard, light bubble wrap and pound-shop tape. That's fine for the occasional parcel — but a move puts everything under stack pressure for hours, often in a warm lorry. Cheap materials are the leading cause of damage in self-packed moves. The materials we sell are:
If you're spending hours of your time packing, it's worth doing it once and doing it properly. Email us and we'll send a sensible kit that actually does the job.
We're a family-run business with a long view on materials. Used cartons that come back in good condition get inspected and resold at around 60% of new — which is good for the environment and good for your budget. We're also happy to:
Tell us in your email if you'd prefer a fully recyclable kit and we'll quote accordingly.
Email office@markratcliffemoving.co.uk with the items you need, the quantity, and whether you want to collect from our Lower Dicker depot or have them delivered locally. We reply the same working day with availability, pricing and a slot.
Yes — locally. We deliver within Eastbourne, Hailsham, Polegate, Willingdon, Pevensey, Bexhill, Lewes, Newhaven and the surrounding Sussex villages. A small delivery fee applies, confirmed in the email quote. For larger orders we may include delivery free of charge.
Yes. Once we've replied to your email order, you can collect from Unit J12 Swallow Business Park, Diamond Drive, Lower Dicker, East Sussex BN27 4EL. Please give us a couple of hours' notice so the order is bagged up and ready when you arrive — saves us both time.
We invoice by email and accept bank transfer or card payment over the phone. Larger orders can be invoiced on account for businesses. There's no online checkout — every order is checked by us before we confirm so you're not paying for something we can't deliver on time.
We supply both. New cartons are triple-wall, removal-grade and unprinted — ideal if you're shipping internationally or want a clean home presentation on arrival. Used cartons are inspected, structurally sound and roughly 40% less than new — perfect for short-distance moves and storage. State your preference in your email.
Email us a rough description of your move — how many bedrooms, anything especially fragile, when you want to start packing — and we'll come back with a recommended bundle and a price. Many customers just say "enough boxes for a 2-bed flat" and we put together a sensible kit.
Yes — we have trade pricing for fellow movers, packers and self-storage operators across Sussex and Kent. Email with your VAT number and approximate monthly volumes and we'll send a trade price list.
Often yes, within reason. We keep core lines (cartons, tape, bubble wrap) in stock at the depot and can sometimes drop spares with you the same day if you're local and we have a van returning. Call rather than email if it's urgent.
